A truly great outdoor space shouldn’t disappear when the sun sets.
For this project, our challenge was to create a backyard that felt as inviting at midnight as it does at noon. By playing with elevation and integrating a sophisticated lighting scheme, we transformed a standard yard into a multi-sensory experience where fire, water, and light dance together.

Navigating a sloped yard

We installed custom LED
under-cap lighting on every
step of the retaining wall
staircase. This isn’t just safety
it’s drama. The warm glow
highlights the texture of the
stone and invites guests to
explore the upper terraces.

bowls with water features atop
the retaining walls, creating
a mesmerizing focal point that
anchors the pool area.
The sound of flowing water
combined with the flicker of
flames creates an instant
‘vacation mode’ atmosphere.

Intimate Conversations
Tucked away in a sunken
paved area, this modern fire
bowl setup is designed for
intimacy. The herringbone
paver pattern adds a layer of
sophisticated detail underfoot,
while the surrounding sitting
walls provide overflow seating
for larger gatherings.
Textures that Tell a Story
From the smooth river rocks lining the pathways to the rugged natural stone of the
retaining walls, every material was chosen for contrast and durability.
The string lights overhead add a festive, bistro-style touch that softens the hardscapes.
